Joshua Lewis
STATE SENATE

Welcome to My Campaign for the Georgia State Senate
I’m Joshua Lewis, and I’m running for the Georgia State Senate to bring strong, principled, and hardworking leadership to the Gold Dome. I was born and raised in Thomaston, and my entire life has been shaped by the values of this district — integrity, perseverance, and a commitment to doing what’s right. After a lifetime in manufacturing, I understand the challenges facing working families because they are the same challenges I face every day.
Georgia is a place of tremendous promise, but too many families are struggling under the weight of rising costs and outdated policies. I’m stepping forward because I believe we can do better — and because I know we must. My campaign is focused on making life more affordable, protecting personal freedom, and ensuring our government works for the people, not against them.
From bold plans to eliminate property taxes and reduce housing costs, to protecting constitutional rights and standing up against unfair utility rate hikes, my priorities are rooted in common sense and real-world experience. I’m committed to delivering results, not rhetoric — and to serving with honesty, accountability, and a deep respect for the people of this district.
Thank you for visiting, and thank you for caring about the future of our community. I invite you to explore my legislative priorities, learn more about my vision, and join me in building a more prosperous, more free, and more affordable Georgia for all.
I WANT TO WORK FOR YOU
Lower Costs • Expanded Freedom • Real Representation
Economic Revolution • End Property Taxes for Homeowners
Georgia families deserve to own their homes outright — not rent them from the government.
Georgia could reasonably expect to generate between $200 million and $500 million per year in tax revenue if it legalized adult-use cannabis for ages 21 and over, based on the performance of comparable legalized states.
States like Colorado, Illinois, and Massachusetts, which have similar population sizes or market characteristics, consistently collect hundreds of millions annually through a combination of excise taxes, sales taxes, and licensing fees.
Georgia’s population, strong tourism sector, and large existing consumer market suggest that, with a competitive tax structure and a well-regulated retail system, the state would likely fall within this revenue range once the market stabilizes.
This revenue should not be left on the table. We should legalize and regulate these markets so that we can pass the tax breaks on to our homeowners.
Real Affordable Housing Through Choice, Not Mandates.
With freedom-driven policies, our economy will flourish. Through new tax revenue, we can provide tax credits for landlords who voluntarily keep rents at fair, capped rates. No government overreach — just an incentive that rewards those who help keep housing affordable.
Legalize Sports Betting
According to testimony during a Georgia legislative hearing, legal sports betting could generate over $100 million per year in state tax revenue, with some industry estimates going as high as $150+ million, depending on tax rates and market performance.
This is $150,000,000 in tax revenue being thrown away every year due to senseless restrictions and out of touch laws.
I will introduce legislation to legalize sports betting, tax and regulate it so that we can pass that revenue on to our homeowners, landlords, and tenants.
Clear the Records: Expunge Cannabis Convictions If Georgia legalizes cannabis, no one should remain branded a criminal for something that is no longer illegal.
We will expunge and exonerate all state-level cannabis convictions — restoring fairness and opportunity to thousands of Georgians. It's time for a fresh start.
Marsha’s Law: Zero Tolerance for Abuse of Power.
Georgia’s children deserve protection — and predators in positions of authority deserve maximum punishment. Marsha’s Law will crack down on failures within child protective services and require mandatory maximum sentences for teachers, doctors, therapists, foster parents, or adoptive parents who abuse their power.
Restore the Consumer Utility Counsel.
Georgia is one of only three states without a watchdog protecting citizens from unjust utility rate hikes. That’s unacceptable. We will restore the Consumer Utility Counsel and give Georgians the advocate they deserve.
Defending Constitutional Rights.
Stand Firm on the Second Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms is non-negotiable. I will oppose every attempt to weaken it — including red flag laws that violate due process and punish law-abiding Georgians.
Term Limits — Starting With Me.
Career politicians have failed Georgia. I will fight for term limits — and I will bind myself first. I commit to serving no more than twelve years in the Georgia State Senate. Public service should be a duty, not a lifetime entitlement.
Protecting Georgia’s Land & Sovereignty.
No Georgia Land in Adversarial Hands. Not. One. Acre. I will champion tough agricultural protections to ensure our farmland — and our food supply — remain firmly under American control.
FREEDOM FIRST. AMERICA FIRST.
